Kilian Gross, European Commission

Kilian Gross has studied law in Germany and abroad (Geneva/Bruges) before doing his practical traineeship in Berlin.

He first worked for the board of Deutsche Telekom AG on European matters - mainly competition law - before he joined the Commission's Legal Service in 1999.

From 1999 to 2005 he was responsible within the Legal Service for tax issues. He advised the Directorate General for taxation and customs on legal issues and he represented the European Commission in numerous tax cases before the European Courts.

During the period of October 2005 until March 2010 Kilian Gross was with the state aid team of the Legal Service. He was dealing with fiscal aid, environmental aid, aid for SMEs and aid with regard to investments in infrastructure. Kilian was an agent on behalf of the Commission in an important number of state aid cases before the European jurisdictions.

Since March 2010 Kilian Gross has held the position of Deputy Head of Unit of Unit A/1 within DG ENER which is in particular responsible for strategy, planning, market observation and legal questions. Unit A/1 was instrumental in the development of the energy strategy for 2020 and on the Roadmap 2050. Kilian Gross is notably responsible for the legal matters and the market observation team within Unit A/1.
