Dr Geoff Townsend

Dr Geoff Townsend is the Technical Director for Nalco in Europe - his role involves both research and technical support activities across a variety of cooling and boiler water applications with a particular focus on power production and petrochemical processing. With over 15 years direct experience in water management including sales, project management, auditing and technical training he has been involved in the design, optimisation and troubleshooting of many key utility processes. Specific areas of expertise include heat exchanger efficiency evaluation, localised corrosion management, scale inhibition and the development of predictive performance tools. As well as being a current member of the ESDU Oil Industry Fouling Working Party, Dr Townsend has published and presented many international articles. Geoff has a PhD in environmental chemistry from the University of Cambridge and worked in academia before his career in industry.
